Help, I’m confused! I have Cigna, paid a $1500 deductible upfront on surgery day, and I still owe

Hey everyone!

The surgery facility asked me to pay my $1,500 deductible up front the day of my surgery (March 16). A month or two later, I got 3 separate claims that I “owe.”

$669 from the surgery facility

$135 from the surgeon

$1,128 from the anesthesiologist.

I called the facility, and explained that I already paid the $1,500 deductible. They confirmed this and I was told that I “overpaid,” and that they will be send the difference back to my card. Great!

Now here’s where I’m confused … I called the provider who sent me the anesthesiologist’s bill. The person on the phone told me that the $1,128 is my “deductible.” I already paid my deductible, so surely you could see my confusion! I thought the $1,128 was for anesthesiology — what grounds do they have to charge me a deductible … again?!

By the way, the full bill was $1,300, but it was knocked down to $1,128 after the Cigna discount.

The anesthesiology provider asked me to resolve this bill by either calling the surgery facility or Cigna. Cigna was no help here, unfortunately. What should I do? I’m new to health insurance, so perhaps I could get some clarity on how to resolve this $1,128 bill.
