Hysterectomy

I have BCBS-TX and I have called my insurance and the doctor has called my insurance and BCBS said that an outpatient laparoscopic hysterectomy does not require preauthorization. I called the preauthorization number on my card anyway and gave them my codes, and they gave me a confirmation code. I spoke to two different representatives at the insurance company who say that the procedure does not require medical necessity according the the “bits”(whatever that means) I am having the surgery for AUB and Dysmenorrhea. I also asked if I had to have tried any other treatment prior to surgery and they told me the “bits” didn’t say that I needed too. I have also had severe cervical dysplasia in the past. TL;DR: it seems to good to be true that my insurance company is being so easy going about my hysterectomy. Am I going to get stuck with a 40k bill after I wake up?
