Visit to the optometrist question

My sister went to an eye doctor around four months ago for a stye infection. She first went to her university health office, which then referred her to this particular eye doctor. The referral was absolutely useless as the doctor looked at her eye for 5 minutes, then said there was nothing he could do. We were in and out in 30 minutes with a prescription. A month later, he wanted to do a follow-up visit (I don’t even know why we went), but that happened.

The first bill was paid in full by my insurance (which isn’t vision, just regular coverage under AETNA-AFSPA). They sent a second claim, but with ridiculous items. They submitted a claim under “routine eye care” and “contact lens fitting,” even though we never went in for routine eye care. I’ve called them about 10 times now. They said they would re-process with the correct items, but it’s been 2 weeks and I do not see any claims showing up. I’m trying to reach someone, but their billing department is absolutely horrendous. They never pick up. Literally. The day I was able to reach them about re-processing, another bill came in the mail dated one day after the call. I called them again and they said they were going to re-process.

What can I do? This is the worst experience I’ve had with any healthcare provider. What should I do if they send ANOTHER bill in the mail?
