I recently had a telemedicine consultation with a physician and was surprised to learn that my insurance kept coming back as “not eligible”, so I contacted my COBRA plan administrator and the lady I spoke to said that someone on her team failed to get a confirmation from my health care provider. She told me they would resend the request and my coverage would be reinstated in 3-5 days.
Today, the COBRA admin wrote to me and notified me that my previous employer had changed providers this year and that they never received my Open Enrollment election form. She then asked, what my preference would be. The thing is, the OE forms they provided clearly stated, “If you do not return this form, your current election(s) will remain in place.”
So that leaves me with a few questions…
Since my family has been uninsured since January 2021 despite making my payments monthly, am I entitled to a refund? I have been billed for medical expenses over this past week, who is responsible for those costs? Who can I consult regarding this matter if they refuse to refund my payments?
I’d appreciate any advice! Cheers.
