My doctor prescribed me a CT scan. Their office reached out to my insurance to get authorization. My health insurance mailed me a letter saying that they approved the scan at an out-of-network benefit. I don’t understand why it was ruled as out-of-network and they didn’t say why either but I still need to get the scan before I can see my doctor again about my issue. Can I appeal to my health insurance to reconsider? I need this test but I also don’t want to pay what will probably cost a couple thousand or more.
