Chronic corneal disease and doctor recommended PRK. Will insurance pay for it?

BCBS Advantage Medicaid. I have a severe reoccurring corneal disease that has left extensive scaring on my corneas. The ophthalmologist suggest I get PRK to both correct my vision and remove the scarring as it may lead to permanent blindness. I also cannot wear contacts and my glasses have been giving me problems for a while nowI know my insurance doesn’t not cover the procedure but was wondering if my condition would make it medically necessary? If so do I have a chance at having insurance pay for it?
