Can I delay coverage for a plan I already signed up for?

Hi everyone,

I’m a recent college grad and just started a new job at the beginning of June. My school insurance plan covers me until the end of August, but when I started my new job I decided to get separate insurance with them (UMR HDHP Bronze) since my parents do not live in the U.S. and I plan to keep the job for one year. When I looked at my paycheck they deducted the premium from my account starting on June 1st. I realized that I would be paying for both insurances during the months of June to August, effectively losing a good chunk of my money (the pay is the minimum wage in my state). The school insurance’s website states that refunds won’t really be possible. Do you think it’s worth contacting my employers to see if I can delay coverage, or is it too late since I already signed up for the new insurance plan? I’m very new to all this so any help would be appreciated!
