How to save on health insurance

So I was looking for health insurance in NY and only found $400 plus premiums for individual plans (exemption of a catastrophic plan for $185 with a $8k deductible [which doesn’t cover Out of Network emergency treatment FTW]).

So I decided to do some research and found certain research/solutions that might be useful to you all.

Self insurance: You will try to reduce your own risk (avoiding act., sports, bikes, driving, etc). You will eat healthy and exercise. You will consider your family history. You will consider how likely you are to get ill/accident. You get the gist. Medical Tourism: You cold go to other states/countries to get medical treatment. Medical Cost Sharing Plans (Zion, Sedera): basically, these are plans were members pays a monthly fee which goes to a fund. When you get injured, the companies gets money from that fund to reimburse you. Do your own research on this, it has several pros and cons. Ask for a detailed itemized bill. This will shave off several hundred of your medical bill.

Of course, do your own research and decisions.

Hope this helps
