Anesthetists Office is Saying Their Bill is Too High

Uggh. I am at a complete loss. If you saw my last post – https://www.reddit.com/r/HealthInsurance/comments/kuqph1/uhc_not_covering_out_of_network_anesthesiologist/ – I was trying to get my insurance to acknowledge the out of network anesthetist I had for my same day surprise gallbladder surgery. They knocked the bill down a few hundred bucks and made it ‘in network’ but as we hadn’t met our yearly ($10k – ouch) deductible it didn’t help much.

After a few months of them and the anesthetist’s office communicating we finally got our adjusted bill and called in today to pay part of it. The person my partner spoke to today said that the amount was really high and asked if we had contested the bill yet. WHAT?!

So now I’m confused and kind of upset again. My UHC insurance sure made it sound like the adjustment was all they could do and we were on the hook for the $2000+ bill on our own. Does anyone have any experience with this or any advice on how I can move forward? We’ve paid half of the bill and are on their ‘payment plan’ now but if there’s a way to lower the remainder I’d be very very interested.
