If I’m under 26 am I automatically able to use my parent’s plan? Or is there some process to adding me on? And if so, can that only be done during some limited window of the year?

I’m 24, and live in Connecticut. I used to have insurance through work but I lost my job about a year ago. Since then I’ve just kind of avoided going to doctors and stuff but now I really need to. My understanding is that there’s some way to use your parents’ insurance plan if you’re under 26? But I don’t understand how it works and I keep getting conflicting information about it from people I ask. Could someone explain to me whether or not this is an option I have and if so what I need to do to do it?

If it’s relevant, my parents are on Husky D and I don’t live with them and am not a dependent.
