I am newly unemployed (not eligible for unemployment benefits) and just applied for insurance through the NY ACA marketplace today. I picked the cheapest plan offered to me, but it seems my coverage won’t kick in until the first of September. Is there anything I can do to get coverage for this month? Or do I just have to stay inside and hope I don’t get sick or injured until my plan starts?
