I’m 23.
I’ve been having symptoms for the past year. I’ve been having persistent Erectile Dysfunction, Loss of sexual arousal, Loss of pleasure/sensitivity to my penis, Loss of adrenaline, and neck pain/tension/achiness and in head.
I went to my GP. I told him my symptoms. He told me that when guys my age have these problems it’s typically due to psychological reasons not physical but he will do my blood work, urinalysis, check my testosterone and prostate to rule out anything physical.
At the end of my visit, he gave me a list of referrals to a Urologist under my health insurance. He did that so if my results came back abnormal I already will have the list of referrals to a specialist and not have to go back to request them.
I got my results and everything came back normal except my PSA (Prostate-specific antigen) was mildly elevated.
I still think something physically is wrong. I’m thinking he could’ve missed something.
I want to go back for more testing. However, I think it’s best for me to speak to a Urologist for further treatment.
Can I just call my GP’s clinic and tell them I want a referral to speak to a Urologist or will I have to go back in and speak to my GP in person and tell him why I want to speak to a Urologist?
My GP may feel like it’s not necessary, but I want a second opinion.
I have an HMO insurance plan.
