I am currently on my mother’s insurance (Aetna). One day while searching for a new doctor I checked out the claims tab and noticed that around 3 or 4 of my claims in reference to recent past doctor appointments have been denied due to being out of network and that I (or my mother, not sure how billing works if she is the insurer) owes a substantial amount of money. However, this is the only documentation I have of this bill. Neither me or my mother have received any notice from the doctor’s office that I owe them any money. I even called these offices to check and see if I have a balance and they have said that I do not, yet I called Aetna and they told me that I do have a balance I owe. So does this mean I owe the insurance company, or that I owe the doctors offices themselves? Should I try and appeal it or just ignore it? Any advice is appreciated.
