Two Insurances. Dentist in Network for one. The other insurance billed as out of network.

Hello! To elaborate on the title. I am covered under two dental plans. I’ve been a dependent under my partner’s plan and recently became eligible for my own dental insurance. I went to the dentist recently and notified them of my new dental plan. After being reassured that they accept my new plan, I got a filling and a cleaning done. I just received notification from my insurance that the claim for the care I received was out of network. I knew this was a possibility and probably should have confirmed network status with my insurance. However, I didn’t think it was a big deal since my dentist is definitely in network for my secondary plan. No claim was filed with them (my partner’s insurance).

Am I responsible for the portion of this bill not covered by my insurance? Should the rest be covered by partner’s plan? I am in New York, for reference.
