So I have insurance through the marketplace or Obamacare. I have had it for years. Now that I am working with Walmart I find that their insurance that is available may make me ineligible for the current insurance I’m getting.
Technically through the marketplace it shows that I’m on the Blue Cross Blue shield bronze PPO card says preferred PPO
I normally even through the marketplace most cards would generally cover 80% or you would have co-pays of $20 etc because I’m native American and when I first signed up I spoke with an agent I somehow got into a plan that has no copays no deductibles which is very beneficial to me. Because I see a specialist about every week that would generally be $60 under any other plan. Normally my plan without any government coverage would be $420. I have a medication alone that for 30 days is $1,100 and most plans would only cover about 80% of it.
Am I better off switching to part-time so I’m not eligible for HealthCare coverage. As it is I’m paying $120 a month though because I’ve now earned more income I’ll only have to pay $55 a month. I literally was told I lost all government stipend for my insurance when the pandemic hit and I was making less than $12,000 but yet I’m was only ever paying the 125 at most a month even though the plan would normally be like $420.
I don’t know how any of this is possible or what’s going on I’ve always had to call people or have had people call me to figure out any issues when updating my information. And I’ve always brought up this discrepancy and that I don’t understand how it’s possible though I do enjoy it and it benefits me greatly and allows me the treatment that helps. Honestly even $420 a month would be more beneficial than switching to Walmart’s plan that would only be $120 a month I might have to switch doctors providers specialist and reduce my frequency of visits along with looking at different prescription medications. That’s not even including all the co-pays deductibles that I don’t have to pay with this current plan that somehow I have. I’m guessing it’s because I qualify for something being a native American or maybe where I live?
Honestly I don’t know what information or proof is okay or not okay to share with someone to help me out with this. I have called the health Care marketplace and have spoken with them and their insurance agents and everyone always seems a little confused and transfers me around. The last Lady I talked to when I was explaining all of this about getting a new job and having insurance available she literally said so what do you want me to do. Like I was asking her questions I needed guidance and I couldn’t even look at what was and wasn’t covered and how much of a stipend I’m technically currently getting since because when I was making below poverty line I was told I wasn’t getting any kind of help through the government but yet I was still only paying $125 out of a $420 insurance plan. I’m not trying to hide anything I have filed my taxes appropriately and have always given permission for them to look into stuff but I’m not a professional and I’m sure they’re just trying to do their job but I’m also afraid that this might come back to bite me in the butt merely because I’m not a lawyer at this kind of stuff and nobody else is either.
