Is there any point in considering Cobra for a month long gap in health coverage?

I’m starting a new job soon but don’t get health insurance until after 30 days. My current coverage ends on the last day of my current job. So I need some short term insurance just for the month of September.

Everything I hear about Cobra is how expensive it is. Is there any upside to it? The HR person at my current job was acting like it was the obvious thing for me to do. But the last time I was in a situation like this was before the affordable care act was passed. Is it more of a pain to set up and stop marketplace coverage for just a month? Is that a viable option?

Also, my wife currently gets her insurance through the open marketplace already. Would that affect anything?
