X-Post from AgingParents – Dad in rehab facility in Tennessee. He gets kicked out tomorrow.

I wasn’t sure who to ask for advice. So here I am.
Situation:
– Dad lives in Tennessee – I live in Denver
– He had a diabetic kidney failure issue 3 months ago
– He has been to the hospital then to a rehab
– His insurance only covers 100 days and that is up today.

I talked to a case worker at the rehab facility and basically was given 3 options.
1. Apply for Medicaid, which he doesn’t qualify for I assume . (supposed to have less than 2k in assets)
2. Stay at the rehab place out of pocket. 225 dollars a day with first and last month rent as a deposit 13,500 dollars.
3. Go to a assisted living facility. 1800 a month for room and board anything else would be ala carte. He needs to have physical therapy and dialysis three times a week.
Bonus 4. Go to his apt and hire a person to take care of him. However there are stairs and he is in a wheel chair.

Currently he is unable to walk or even take care of his basic needs. At this point I don’t know what to do. We don’t have a lot of money, and not sure what to do exactly.

Any help would be great.
