I updated my information through the NJ healthcare marketplace on 8/6 to say that I am pregnant and due on 9/30, I called BC/BS today and they told me that my plan is switching at the end of the month– looked it up, and it has the same name, benefits seem to be the same but my deductible went from $100 to $1000—isnt it illegal to discriminate because of pregnancy?? When I tried calling a representative from the marketplace, she told me that it apparently does say on their website that any time you update your information, your plan can possibly change, but this just does not seem right. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem/ any thoughts on what to do. Definitely plan on making some more phone calls tomorrow.
