Trauma surgery – Insurance issues

77 yo active female hip fracture surgery. My mom. She also broke her wrist so she was transferred from a local hospital to a trauma center that is not in her network. They did surgery on her hip two weeks ago today. The surgeon wanted her to follow up to have wound care and suture removal in two/three weeks. I called and was informed we would have to private pay for the follow up appointments. I called insurance and they sent us to another orthopedic clinic. I called them, they would not see her. They did not want to take on another surgeon’s work. The nurse told me about the 90 Day Global Post Op Policy, that she should be covered for any post op appointments. I’ve called insurance and the trauma center to try and figure all this out. No one seems to want to help and I’m so frustrated. At this point I’ve made an appointment with her PCP to have him help us. I just don’t know what to do. I get a surgeon not wanting to take on another surgeon’s mistake, but it’s just wound care and after that X-rays and stuff. She’s doing very well. Does anyone have any experience with this type of situation or any tips?
