Sorry Mods if I flaired this incorrectly or forget to include relevant information…I tried my best but it’s all so confusing.
I’m 32 and have never had health insurance due to self-employment (i’m not currently traditionally employed, I build websites as a freelancer for a variety of clients). I never felt that I needed health insurance due to my age and because I’ve never been on a prescription until recently and my health (physically at least) has always been perfect: I’ve barely needed to see a doctor and never been hospitalized until this year.
Unfortunately I’ve had several hospitalizations in 2021 for alcohol withdrawal. I’m now seeing a psychiatrist monthly for bipolar disorder and have been prescribed lamotrigine/lamictal
At my age and given my recent psychiatric history / hospitalizations I need to get insured.
But its all so overwhelming, I look at the list of plans and providers and there’s so much fine print and legalese and words that I don’t understand…I simply don’t know what to do.
It would be wonderful if my health insurance could cover psychiatry visits + the medication + the therapy that I desperately need to + any further hospitalizations (trust me, I’m trying everything I can to break my addiction–i’m sober as I write this–but I have to be realistic, it could happen again)
If anyone could point me towards the proper plan and provider for my situation it would be so helpful…I’m just so overwhelmed about where to even begin.
If it’s relevant — I have assets (a house, stocks) that need to be protected — and I have enough income to justify a higher deductible
