(California) I posted this in another insurance sub; I’m being charged for a podiatrist visit that took place months ago

Hello, this is my first post here. I hope to find help in regards to my issue.

Earlier this year in March I received an injury during a jog and went to a local podiatrist. At this point in time, I was student at a university that gave me health insurance. It wasn’t the best insurance (Anthem) but it was insurance that helped me get by. I graduated in mid March, though my insurance was still good until March 23rd, with my podiatrist visit taking place on March 16th. I don’t recall being charged such a substantial amount other than around $17 after my visit. And just today I received a bill in the mail saying I owe near $300 by the end of the month.

So the questions I have are: Why am I being charged this amount if they never charged me in the first place? The bill was issued on August 9th. As stated earlier, I was insured at this point in time and did not have to pay this amount when I went in. Is this an issue from my past insurance provider or the physician’s billing? I honestly feel like something’s is off here. Thank you in advance for any input!

Also sorry if my flair doesn’t match the post, I wasn’t sure which to use
