So I live in California and was previously claimed as a dependent by my parents. However I make a small amount of self-employed income online and this year I might make enough so that I would no longer be able to be claimed as a dependent. If I estimate my income will be over the $4300 dependent income limit is that when I should remove my parents from the household on my Covered California application? I am the only one who gets insurance through the online exchanges as they get Medicare.
Also if I remove them from the household and qualify for assistance due to my own low income but it turns out my income ends up being low enough where I could be claimed as dependent would that become a problem? Or could I just choose to stay as my own household if they don’t claim me?
