I just started my PhD and my health insurance plan through my graduate school has a prescription plan (CVS caremark) with a $500 deductible and $1600 max out of pocket annually. 50% is covered after the deductible.
I’m on a medication (Humira) that costs $6-7k / month (for two doses, but they come together).
Am I right that this means I pretty much need to come up with $1600 as a lump sum now and again in January? Since ($6k – 500)/2 is still more than $1600?
I suppose I can take out a loan or something to break up the payments? Are there healthcare-specific loans or would it be like a general loan?
Age: 21 (Sadly since my parents have Tricare I cannot stay on their insurance)
Zip: 30601
Income: $31k
Walking is expensive 😛
