I live in Texas and I’m turning 26 in a few months, what are my health insurance options (besides spending all of my savings on health insurance plans)?

I have saved money, but I don’t want to have to spend it all on health insurance plans like the marketplace or ObamaCare (I have seen prices up to $600 a month).

I have a job. A piece of shit job that pays shit, that I DO NOT want to be tied to (which using health insurance from them would do to me).

It’s already infuriating and annoying as hell that we have these TIME LIMITED “enrollment periods”, as opposed to being able to buy health insurance anytime of the year.

I think it’s ridiculous how expensive healthcare is in the United States, especially when other countries have universal healthcare for all. But, I can’t just move to another country.

I have some things that have held me back and delayed me from progressing in life, and not being able to afford my medications (and most likely, therapy as well) will only hurt me 1000x more (SSRI withdrawal, and withdrawal from the other two, but SSRI withdrawal might be the worst withdrawal in known drug existence).

My meds alone (not counting the required doctors visits to refill them) would cost over $400 a month FULL PRICE OUT OF POCKET (uninsured).

I don’t even make $400 A WEEK, and THAT’S FULLTIME HOURS.

I have over $9,000 in my savings account, so if government assistance looks at my savings/assets, I think I’ll be denied any assistance/aid. If it only goes by income, I make at most $353 a week, and that could change if my job ever decided to cut my hours.

I’m very fortunate that my parents have allowed me to continue living with them and only ask for $200 a month, but they will not be cutting me off of their health insurance, the insurance company itself will.

EXCEPT, my mom CLAIMS that if I get a letter from my doctor explaining WHY he refills my medications, that my dad’s health insurance MIGHT be willing to extend it. Is this true?

I read that this only happens if the adult child is considered a dependent or incompetent and under a guardianship, which I am not, and I am unwilling to give up my adult rights, I see what happened to Britney Spears.

I’m not about to officially give up on life for good and hand my finances over to my mom and be deemed an incompetent helpless person without free-will who belongs to someone else, LIKE A SLAVE, LIKE PEOPLE IN COMMUNIST DICTATORSHIPS!!!!!

I find it hard to believe that an insurance company would JUST BE WILLING to extend coverage, longer then the government REQUIRES IT.

My mom is either withholding information to trick me into it, or she doesn’t even know the process.

Texas is a Republican-led state who just pretty much took away women’s rights over their own bodies, so I highly doubt I can have my coverage extended longer than insurance is legally required to cover (26 by federal law) without some sick twist, like some asshole judge telling me I don’t have the right to manage my own finances, or that if I try to leave home the police will forcibly take me back home like a child.

I have never felt free in my life, and I’m not about to OFFICIALLY LEGALLY SIGN MY RIGHTS AWAY!
