CHP vs employer based family insurance

I am due to renew health insurance for my children and on the fence about obtaining a public or an employer based private policy. I don’t qualify for any government subsidies due to income, so even if I got with the public one, I would be paying full premiums. From my calculations, the monthly premium cost comes to almost no difference between the two.

In this case (where money isn’t really the issue), can anyone shed some light on what the key differences would be when it comes to getting a CHP insurance versus an employer based private one? Is public insurance inferior in any way when it comes to coverage or treatment? I am in NYC and am looking for insurance options for 3 children, all under 5 years old.

Tl;Dr – what are the key differences between chip and private insurance for children aside from cost?
