Got a letter from Ambetter saying that the current primary care Dr “is no longer going to be able to see you as a Specialist”. What should I do?

Sorry for the long post and any mistakes since English is my second language, and TIA for advices!

My dad got a letter from her insurance (Ambetter Florida) saying that:

“Dr. X is no longer going to be able to see you as a Specialist.” And “If you are currently getting treatment with Dr.X, it is important to contact us so we can make sure that you get the care you need. Your Primary Care Physician can also help assign you to another Specialist.”

Dr. X is an internist and is also my dad’s primary care doctor. So the last paragraph didn’t make sense to me.

We never got any letters or communication from Dr.X saying that he won’t be able to see my dad anymore. From Ambetter’s letter, it doesn’t say when exactly Dr.X will stop seeing my dad either. I also checked my dad’s Ambetter member account and still see Dr.X listed as his primary care physician. A quick provider search also showed that Dr.X is in-network and is accepting new patients.

I go to every doctor’s appointment with my dad because he doesn’t speak English and doesn’t drive. We only had one annual check-up with Dr.X this year, the rest is just picking up referrals at the reception area, refill prescription which was done through CVS, and seeing other specialists that would send my dad’s test results back to Dr.X. I believe that me/my dad didn’t do anything disrespectful or annoying that Dr.X has to drop him like this. We really like Dr.X as a PCP and he also speaks my dad’s language so it helps my dad understand his health condition without having me translating to him. Not many PCP speaks his language in our area and is accepting new patients at this time.

What should I do? Do I call Dr.X and ask if this is true or it’s just a mistake from Ambetter? How long does the office keep my dad’s medical record so we can go in and pick it up to transfer to a new PCP?

Or should I call Ambetter and verify this information? If my dad changes to another insurance that Dr.X is in-network, can Dr.X refuse to see my dad?
