Hi – so I am currently pregnant and working overseas, where I have insurance through my employer, but will be coming back to the USA to have the baby in December. (baby is due early March).
My current insurance doesn’t cover me in the USA (because I am a US citizen) so I’m planning on getting private insurance. I know Open Enrollment period is coming up so I’m currently looking at BlueChoice HMO Gold $1,750 plan, translating to $546.62 monthly payment with a $1,750 deductible (state would be VA, 22312).
This is where my question comes in – what the hell does deductible mean? Also would the insurance properly kick in by the time the kid is here or will I have to pay for the birth out of pocket?
Also open to other suggestions on how to make sure the birth is covered – I don’t qualify for any low-income related options.
Thanks so much, anyone who can help.
