backstory:
My wife is recovering from co-occurring ptsd and alcohol addiction. She’s been through 2 different residential treatment programs this year and is looking at a 3rd now. She came home with a lot of “secondary trauma” from doing 30+ hours/week of group therapy and empathizing heavily with other trauma survivors at a PTSD treatment facility. She is in full blown relapse.
Current issue:
Our insurance is a blue cross PPO and they’ve got some sort of relationship with an organization named “Magellan” for determining mental health coverage. Every week she’s been in residential we gotten an approval letter for that week in the mail from Magellan (fwiw, they’ve never declined coverage). I found out this morning that a nurse/representative from Magellan has been calling for ~2 months now and leaving my wife messages asking for her to call them back. The voicemails sound very friendly, but I’m finding myself concerned about what Magellan may or may not be attempting to accomplish via these calls. Are they genuinely trying to help her find her path through her recovery or (I suspect) are they simply trying to minimize their financial exposure during this crisis. Any insight/advice would be greatly appreciated. Not really sure what this post should be flaired. I took a wild guess. Thanks in advance!
