From the looks of it I am far from the first person to complain about UHC and OptumRx but I am hoping someone might be able to help me figure out what is going on.
I’m a student and my university provides health insurance through UHC. Its not great but I guess its better than nothing. I was going through my insurance claims on my account and noticed all these high value claims (averaging $4,600) with OptumRx listed as the provider. There is one of these claims each month starting January 2021.
I was under the impression that OptumRx was a prescription delivery service but I have never used it and I don’t know much beyond that. So I have no idea where these insurance claims are coming from. When I select the option to view the EOB (explanation of benefits) there isn’t one for any of the optumRx claims. This seems like a red flag since normally the EOB gives you an itemized list of services provided.
The claims list the amount “paid” by insurance for each which is around 70% (leaving around $1500 left unpaid for each claim). I just want to make sure I’m not on the hook for that remainder especially considering that as far as I know I have never used OptumRx.
Anyone know what might be going on here?
