Today was my last day at my job and they told me my insurance coverage would end today. I start my new job in two weeks. My spouse wants to purchase me insurance through his job as he doesn’t want me to go a single day without insurance, but they asked for a “Proof of Loss of Coverage” which I have not received. I called the insurance company and the rep said my (previous) employer did not enter a termination date so they can’t do anything, and my employer is now closed until Monday.
Does anyone have advice for what should I do in this situation?
Also, since my employer didn’t provide the termination date, will my plan retroactively cancel on today’s date? Any chance my coverage will continue until my employer provides that date?
Update: Spouse’s coverage wouldn’t take effect til Dec 1, so I guess COBRA is my only option. But I would also need the Proof of Loss for that, too.
