I currently have two job offers both in the same city but can’t decide which insurance is better. The plan now will just be covering myself and my spouse (and probably kids a few years down the line)
Both of them offer two options (high det + low det)
Option 1 Option 2 Employer A $4,500 annual Premium/ $600 individual det / $1200 family det/ Out of pocket Maximum $2,000 for individual and $4,500 for family. $2,850 annual Premium/ $4600 family det (doesn’t have an individual since everyone’s pool together)/ Out of pocket Max is $11,000 for the family Employer B $3,800, 20% co-pay for most services after 1,000 individual det/ 1800 family det is met. Out of pocket max $2,300 for individual and $5,000 for family. $2,300, 20% co-pay for most services after 2,000 individual det/ 3600 family det is met. Out of pocket max $4,300 for individual and $8,500 for family.
I won’t say I’m a heavy health care user, but I did buy the most expensive plan last year because I was expecting to do a small surgery (which the plan was very worth since the bill was over 20K and I only had to pay $2.5K out of pocket which was the out of pocket max).
My spouse does have chronic shoulder problems which may or may no occur depending on his exercise level. But otherwise we are both young and healthy and non-tobacco users.
