Lost my job in June, enrolled in COBRA through previous employer’s broker/ administration service. Premiums were quoted to me as cheap, so cheap ($40 a month) I called the broker’s COBRA rep and she affirmed that it was correct, so I paid for 6 months through the end of November, (I’ve had no claims, doctor visits, or prescriptions the whole time.) I couple months later, I got a notice from them that my premiums were actually paid through January of 2022, and that I was eligible to pay the $37 premium through January of 2023 (great! ok!). THEN, I recently got a letter from a *new* company saying that they are now administering the billing for my provider, and that I owe $980 a month going back to June. Now if they want me to pay the 30x premium going forward, that’s fine, I’ll find something else, but can they bill me retroactively, raising premiums that I’ve already paid?
