I am curious about if there are any examples of health insurance companies where it is somehow more governed directly by the people who are recipients of the insurance.
For example, if it appears that health insurance companies act in their own interest rather than in the interest of the insured people, is this is a structural problem which could hypothetically be solved by people forming their own health insurance program.
There are different ways in which people could have more political influence over their own health insurance companies like some kind of voting ability or maybe some kind of directly pooled financial allocation.
I’m just curious if this is an established field of thought already and what’s been attempted and what was successful.
Thanks
