Basically, I had additional student insurance from 2020-2021 while also under my parents’ plan, and my family’s plan was mistakenly listed as the primary insurance. I had quite a few tests and appointments and my family’s insurance company was billed. They approved it at first, then suddenly rescinded payments a few months ago (and refused to pay for anything else) because the primary insurance was supposed to pay. Since then, I’ve sorted a few things out (and providers have thankfully been understanding) but treatment I received over the duration of my primary plan unsurprisingly wasn’t covered. My question is, will my expired primary plan still cover the claims? I feel so torn up over this. My family isn’t poor, but medical bills are really fucking expensive. I feel like the insurance company is partly at fault because they didn’t even notify me until months after my primary insurance plan was cancelled, but I don’t know if I have a legal claim to that.
