Who is paying for Covid care?

I read that the cost of a hospitalization is $30-$50,000, with several thousand in out-of-pocket costs. If 800,000 have died, then we have seen well over 1 million hospitalizations over the past two years, correct? That’s $30-$50 billion in insurance payments to hospitals. So where does that money come from?
