Good evening everyone! I have an unusual situation that I don’t know how to navigate and resolve the issue. I’m a nurse for a large healthcare organization in Georgia and our health coverage is through Humana. At the beginning of November my husband lost his job so I did the required life event and added him to my medical plan. My employer confirmed that he was added and his coverage is active on 12/1. However, Humana states they never received anything to add him to my insurance and have confirmed he does not have coverage despite paying for family coverage out of my paycheck. I had always been employee + children so going to family is about $90 more every 2 weeks and I confirmed it was switched to family with higher amount on last check. Humana informed me to contact my HR department because they can’t do anything. I contact my HR department through the HR portal and receive a response of “he has active coverage as of 12/1, please see your benefit summary on HR portal”. Our HR department is huge and they don’t answer phone nor do they return calls, they want everything done through portal. I’ve left 2 voicemails, sent more messages through portal with no responses to either. Is there anything else I can do? There’s not a direct number to benefits specialist, I’ve looked everywhere. I’m paying for a service that is not being provided. I called Humana back and they state essentially there’s nothing to do until they can speak to HR or receive something from them. I’m terrified of my husband being in an accident or something and he’s supposed to have coverage but he doesn’t. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!
