I have Keystone First insurance in PA. They are very stingy when approving medications and I often have to file appeals. It’s a Medicaid plan.
I had a medication prescribed to me by a doctor, but the insurance company rejected it until my doctor filled out a form to prove it’s medically necessary. Once that happened, the insurance company approved the prescription and I’ve never needed to have my doctor intervene again. It’s a regular prescription that I take daily and I’ve been taking it for years and it’s just been approved in perpetuity.
But I need to change doctors, because this doctor moved to a different office that is much too far from me. If my new eye doctor writes me a prescription for the same medication, will the insurance company approve it since it’s the same medication and I already went through that whole process? Or will the fact that it’s coming from a different doctor this time(but in the same field) change the approval status?
Thanks
