In late 2018/early 2019, I was experiencing intense neck and head pain (what I thought was a pinched nerve or something worse). I went to a neurologist to check it out in March and April 2019. At that time, I was covered under my mother’s previous insurance (the only insurance I believed to have had).
The insurance company paid the balance in March and April 2019. In April 2020, the insurance company took back their payment because they are not listed as my primary insurance in their system. I’ve spent hours on the phone with them to understand how to resolve this issue. Turn out, I was also under my father/stepmother’s insurance. He has always been my noncustodial parent and I never thought to ask if I was covered under his insurance.
My mother’s insurance claims that, because my stepmother is older, that insurance plan is my primary insurance. My father/stepmother’s insurance claims that my mother’s insurance is my primary insurance in their system. I have never experienced this issue before and NEITHER COMPANY WILL PAY THE BALANCE. It has been almost 3 years from the date of service. My mother’s insurance company has paid and taken back the money 2-3 times. In the past, I hopped on a three-way call with both companies to resolve the issue. I just received another notice that the same balance of $5000 is overdue. What can I do about this? This is ridiculous and I refuse to pay.
