I’m located in Missouri. My girlfriend recently added me as a domestic partner to her employer’s Anthem Silver Select PPO plan. I’m needing to get a surgery soon and while this plan covers some of it, it doesn’t cover as much as I thought it would.
I’m wanting to apply for Medicaid as secondary coverage as I meet the income requirement (I have none). However, I’m wondering if my girlfriend being my domestic partner could disqualify me as she makes more income than the requirement.
We do not have any documentation or anything listing us as domestic partners, Anthem didn’t ask for anything about it and Missouri doesn’t legally recognize domestic partnership. We live in the same apartment, that’s about it.
I figure that it wouldn’t be a factor since it’s not legally recognized here and we don’t have documentation for it (other than me being on her health insurance). This Missouri healthcare website says that domestic partnerships aren’t recognized, but I’m still worried. Should I be okay?
