So I’m in Washington State and currently on Medicaid (Molina Apple Health), however my step-dad pays ~$200 for me to also have Altrua HealthShare, which is, as the name states, one of those “health shares” that people warn against.
I’ve been trying to figure out if I should:
See if he’ll replace Altrua with something better while it’s still open enrollment here in WA (Nov 1, 2021 – Jan 15, 2022). Keep Altrua for the extra coverage. Let Altrua lapse and just go with Medicaid alone (some nurses told me Molina Apple Health is actually fairly decent for medicaid).
I’m not even sure what, if anything, I could replace Altrua with anyway. When I search on WAHealthPlanFinder.org and “Shop for Plans”, I only get Medicaid (Apple Health) options, nothing else, so I guess any Altrua alternative would be some non-marketplace plan through a different website?
