Approved for Medicaid through 2022, but income has changed

I can’t find anything on the internet about this and I’m afraid of contacting my insurance or my insurance broker and getting preemptively kicked off of Medicaid, so here I am!

I am a freelancer (graduated college earlier this year) and have been on Medicaid for a few years. My last renewal for 2020 was approved through 2022. I found out I have a health issue and am scheduled to have surgery to fix it at the end of January (approved by my insurance already).

However, since November I have technically earned too much to qualify for Medicaid, although I can’t say that I will earn the same amount through 2022 as freelancing life is unpredictable.

Will I get in trouble for remaining on Medicaid if they see that I earned too much through 2021? (with the November + December extra earnings, my monthly average is too high.) I am not sure how to proceed, since my state says I am approved through 2022, and I’m afraid of finding a new insurance and not getting immediate coverage that will cover my upcoming, very medically necessary surgery. I would honestly rather quit all my projects than deal with figuring out new insurance, but it just so stressful to have to decide between earning money and taking care of my health.
