Ohio. I work at a university, but am employed by a temp agency. Health insurance is a benefit offered by the temp agency for employees that work over 30 hrs/week, so I qualify. I’ve had health coverage for about two months now, deducted from my paycheck. While the school was closed for winter break, I was not allowed to come into work. I emailed HR about a month before break, asking if I might lose my insurance benefit for not working 30hrs in a week. Two weeks after my email, they emailed saying they would get back to me, but never did. I’ve now come to find that my insurance has “termed”, and coverage ended on 12/31- during the two weeks I was not allowed to work according to the rules of my location. Also, because of the timing of the break, they were able to take the money from the paycheck without me “missing a payment”. I’ve emailed both my employer and insurance agency, but tbh, have no faith that either will respond to me in a reasonable amount of time.
Would my health insurance end so suddenly just because I didn’t go to work for two weeks? Is it something that could be reversed? I’m pretty sure I received no warning about anything.
