Currently I do not take benefits through my employer – I am 24 years old, so I am still on my family’s very good healthcare plan through my dads company. The surgery I am having will keep me out of work for 3-4 weeks, so obviously I would prefer not to go without pay during that time. Do I talk to my employer or my provider about it? I am not sure if I can get anything as far as paid medical leave goes since my employer doesn’t cover me. Thoughts? My provider said to speak with my employer, employer said to talk to provider…. So a bit confused. Any input is helpful! Thanks.
