How does health insurance work with a newborn?

This is extremely convoluted, I apologize!

So my insurance has a very hefty deductible, it’s about $6k deductible and $8,500 out of pocket max. I saved up $4k for the out of pocket max and I have gap insurance which pays $5k once admitted to hospital.

Insurance agents are giving me different answers, so I asked if my baby is covered under my insurance and MY deductible for the first 30 days, one person said yes, another said the baby is no longer part of my insurance immediately after delivery.

Because I’m not able to get an actual answer from the insurance company, I’m realizing that I may or may not be screwed the baby’s separate deductible if the baby will start immediately accruing medical bills since they are no longer attached to me.

TLDR; insurance won’t give a straight answer. Is baby covered under my deductible for 1st 30 days?

Edit: this is in USA
