I have a PPO and was denied for an MRI for my back, It was recommended by my doctor. I didn’t think a PPO could deny stuff? I’ve been hosed by a previous HMO in the same deal in 2009, doc wanted an MRI. HMO made me get physical therapy and cortisone shots in my spine. Was in a lot of pain, none of it helped. I just kept jumping through the hoops, bring on the next one. Finally, I had done all the precursor requirements and got my MRI, which allowed a back doctor to diagnose me in minutes. Nice lady at insurance told me most people just give up.
