So I get Florida Blue insurance through my work (The company I work for is in FL, but I live in NC). At the time, it was astronomically more to add my wife to the policy, so we opted to not add her when shopping around. Dumb move because we procrastinated and missed the deadline. I’ve been trying to find other insurance for her, she doesn’t work, but my income alone (even though it’s only 52k a year still makes her premium pretty pricy). I wanted to double check how much it would be to add her to my policy now that it’s a new year, but when I checked, it showed her listed on the policy with coverage. I called Florida Blue and sure enough she’s covered and they have nothing stating I owe extra money. I called gusto (the HR resource my company uses) and they don’t show that I added her on end, so I’m not sure what to do. We’re thinking about starting a family so I need to get her insurance in order, but I’m afraid, even though I’ve already contacted Florida blue, at some point they’re gonna say “Wait she wasn’t supposed to be covered” and I get hit with a huge fee later on or worse.
