I’m definitely not the first person to ask this so feel free to direct me towards another posts, I just couldn’t find answers to my situation upon my own search. Here’s my situation:
I currently get insurance through my employer but am considering moving to working freelance in the near future and want to know what my options are so I can make an informed decision. I will be 26 at this time, single, no pre-existing conditions, average height and weight and relatively healthy lifestyle so I wouldn’t say I’m at risk for anything as far as I know. My dad is my dentist so dental coverage isn’t really a concern (it’d be nice though so he gets paid). I don’t wear glasses/contacts but my mother does have a genetic disorder that has resulted in her vision deteriorating, I haven’t shown any signs of this so I should be in the clear but naturally it’s something on my radar. I am an audio engineer so my ears are very important to me as they tie into my livelihood.
I’m really only looking for something to have for 1-3 years as eventually my girlfriend and I will get married and have a family plan under her job. If it matters my projected income would be $50-60k annually, but like I said I’d be freelance so I’d work as much as I need to cover my expenses.
I mostly want to know how I should go about looking for plans and what kind of things I should be looking for and thinking about. Again feel free to tag me in other posts that cover this and thank you in advance!
