I’m wondering if somebody can help me out here. I had BCBSTN for years but they’ve spontaneously terminated me. I used to be a dependent on it but once I turned 26 I was able to keep this same insurance through Cobra. I’ll be 28 this year. Earlier last year I was told by someone over the phone that I will be covered until September of 2023. The reasoning they cancelled my coverage is because of one missed payment back in November of 2019. I was never notified of any missed payment whatsoever in these past 2+ years and they continued to cover me despite this missed payment up until now. They’ve given me no 30-day grace period either. They even covered a major elective surgery for me last year (mastectomy). I’m on Humalog and Lantus pens. Have been diabetic for 20 years. I had to panic call a representative today and purchase new insurance. The only insurance available to me quotes my copay for both insulin’s at $800 which I cannot fathomably afford. I’m well aware of goodrx, manufacturer’s discounts, and the option to get samples from my doctor. Does anybody have an idea if I have reasonable grounds to appeal this decision on? I am reading that I may be able to because it (should) be considered an urgent situation due to being dependent on a high priority medication.
