I have to share. I’m livid and have no where to turn. I have @kaiserpermanente insurance through the healthcare exchange.
First I want to say, I screwed up. I’ve been deeply depressed & receiving treatment for depression at Kaiser. There was a point in time when I was so exhausted, I literally quit opening my mail. Kaiser, the insurance company who says they care, kicked me while I was down.
Mid pandemic my $180 monthly premium dropped to a mere $6.00! I was so happy!
In October, I thought I would get ahead of the game and paid $60 to cover me for ten months.
What I didn’t know was something happened to that payment and it didn’t process correctly. I did go in a month later and double checked and it showed a payment transaction. Despite all of this, somehow Kaiser never got their money.
Again, I take full responsibility for not following up and monitoring the transaction. However like I said, I’ve been trying to survive the worst bout of depression in my life.
On January 1st Kaiser retroactively cancelled me for non-payment of my $6 premium.
I owed them a whopping $18 total.
I am now without healthcare, trying to manage depression and some pretty significant health issues that require daily medications.
What Kaiser did to me is the most American thing ever. They basically threw me to the wolves with no compassion what so ever OVER A $6 premium!
There is no other wealthy country who would allow this to happen to their people.
I’m just disgusted. My heath was worth $18. I’m out with no referrals, no medication, surgery is cancelled and I’m billed thousands over an $18 oversight.
They did all of this at the absolute peak of the pandemic. Now I live in fear that I might get Covid while I’m uninsured.
I hate this place. That’s all I’ve got to say. I hate this place.
