Hello, everyone, 18m here. Indiana, USA.
I recently just got my first Vyvanse prescription of the new year, and upon receiving the pills at the till, the pharmacist asked me how I was going to pay. I asked her, “pay?” and she said, “yes, the sum of 900 USD.” I was confused. I had paid 0 dollars for every prescription I’d received up until that point. Why is it suddenly 900? The pharmacist explained that my deductible had not been met, and that I needed to pay the full amount for the medication.
My question is, what are some avenues I can take to get my medication without paying the unjust sum of 900 USD? Do I change medications, call my insurance? What do I do in this situation as I cannot afford 900 for a Vyvanse prescription, but I need my medication to function in college.
